UMT Conducts First Online PhD Dissertation Defense

University of Management and Technology has conducted it’s first-ever PhD dissertation defense through Zoom Application. UMT is now the first premier Higher Educational Institute in Pakistan to hold an online PhD dissertation defense.
Waqasia Naeem successfully defended her dissertation entitled "A Critical Discourse Analysis of Actor Delineation, Action Attribution and Event Description in Afghan Wars (1979-1989 and 2001-2008),” supervised by Dr Muhammad Shaban. External examiners for the defense included Prof Dr Mamuna Ghani, Dean Faculty of Arts, The Islamia University of Bahawalpur and Prof Dr Habib Ullah Pathan, Director English Language and Development Center, Mehran University of Engineering and Technology, Jamshoro. More than 90 participants, including faculty members and PhD scholars, participated in the session as well. The session was chaired by the honourable Dr Muhammad Aslam, Rector UMT who appreciated the efforts of Office of Controller Examination, Office of Technology Support and Office of Campus Management Services and Institute of Liberal Arts.
