UMT-CENTIN Startup Expo Attracts Talented Entrepreneurs across Pakistan

The UMT-CENTIN (Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation) held its first Startup Expo at Peal Continental Hotel, Lahore on November1-2, 2019. The startup expo was held at 4th International Business Conference and Exhibition (IBCE) in collaboration with Jumpstart L.I.F.T Pakistan.
The expo consisted of 50+ startup stalls from multidisciplinary areas including technology, hospitality, healthcare, dairy, water and energy, e-commerce, transportation, garments, academia, electronics, tourism, cosmetics, organic food, courier services and gaming. The aim of the startup was to encourage and support the youth of Pakistan to turn their academic projects into real business ventures.
A large number of students, entrepreneurs, investors and people from different strata of society attended the event and showed keen interest and appreciation to hold more exhibitions in future. In the end, Ibrahim Hasan Murad, President UMT, and Mian Mahmood-ur-Rasheed, Provincial Minister of Punjab for Housing, Urban Development and Public Health Engineering visited the stalls and met with startup teams and representatives of SMEs individually, who informed them about their value proposition and were encouraged to work hard in future.
The CENTIN also offered 100+ presentations for Business Idea Pitching which gave another exciting opportunity to startup teams to display their creativity in front of jury consisting of investors. Another 10 startup stalls and 10 business idea pitches will further be carried out to Islamabad for branding and investment opportunities.
The UMT-CENTIN Startup expo reflects the tireless and dedicated efforts of Ibrahim Hasan Murad, Abid H K Shirwani, DG UMT, and Dr Muhammad Aslam, Rector UMT, to promote quality academics and innovative venture among students across Pakistan.
