Panel Discussion on the second Day of the 1st International Conference on Diversity and Social Inclusion

The second day of the conference commenced with a welcome note by Abid HK Shirwani, DG UMT who extended his deepest gratitude to Mariam Nur Murad, Chairperson WILL for arranging a much-needed conference addressing women empowerment and the issues related to gender discrimination. He talked about the basic issues regarding empowerment and rights of the less privileged and disabled. The first panel that initiated the discussion comprised of Naseem Zahra, a renowned Pakistani Journalist and Dr Salman Shah, a noted Pakistani Economist, along with Mariam Nur Murad, Chairperson WILL.

Naseem Zahra focused on diversity in conflict management, where she put forth the fact that diversity emerges first as a general factor and then as a divisive factor, arising due to poor governance. Dr Salman Shah talked about diversity as an entity leads to conflict and if it becomes inclusive, it can lead to positive changes.
