Monday, March 28 2016

Renowned scientist and creator of nuclear Pakistan Dr A Q Khan said that people have just read about Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah but he had seen him with his own eyes and found him a great and visionary leader. He was delivering a lecture under the aegis of Jinnah Forum at UMT, Lahore. A good number of students, faculty members, media persons and the guests attended the event.

Dr A Q Khan said Quaid-e-Azam was a man of strong willpower and commitment who practiced what he preached and inspired a nation. Lord Mountbatten had admitted that Jinnah was neither purchasable nor distracted and never compromised on his principles. Quaid-e- Azam possessed qualities of nobleness, greatness, truthfulness, honesty, and impartiality that distinguished him from his contemporary leaders; that is why he fulfilled the promise of establishing a separate homeland for his nation and made history.

Dr Khan added that UMT is one of the best universities of Pakistan, which is imparting quality education to the new generation. "I'm spiritually connected with UMT; Dr Hasan Sohaib Murad is my spiritual friend, my heart beats for him as does it for Pakistan and the Muslim Ummah", he added.

Dr A Q Khan said that when in 1974, India tested nuclear weapons, a prompt response from Pakistan was necessary and if we had not responded to its aggression, it would have regained control of us and today Lahore have been made as the capital of the Sikh community.  Dr AQ Khan advised students to take interest in their studies and be committed to their goals, say five times prayer, respect teachers and parents, become responsible citizens, recite the Holy Qur'an and ponder over its verses. "If you act upon the principles told by Quaid-e- Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, you can succeed in your lives. Pakistan needs you, this nation needs you and you're the true voice for the Muslim Ummah", he said.

Dr Hasan Sohaib Murad, Rector UMT, said that the foundation of Jinnah Forum here at UMT was aimed at connecting new generation with the history and ideology of Pakistan, making them aware of their responsibilities as citizens and that how could they play their fundamental role in development of the country. The program was also addressed by renowned anchor person Salman Ghani who emphasized on the unity of the nation irrespective of race and nationalism.
