Ibrahim Hasan Murad Addresses the 16th UMT Convocation

Ibrahim Hasan Murad, President, UMT, warmly welcomed the chief guest Chaudhry Mohammad Sarwar, Governor of the Punjab, Dr Ahmad Omar Murad, Chairman, ILM Trust, Dr Muhammad Aslam, Rector UMT, members of Board of Governors of UMT and ILM Trust, faculty and staff members, graduates and their parents on the UMT 16th Convocation.

Ibrahim Hasan Murad started his address in the name of Allah and His Prophet (P.B.U.H.). He prayed to Allah to keep us on the right path and sought His blessings and peace. Then he shared with the audience that he wished to follow the footsteps of his father the Late Dr Hasan Sohaib Murad, Founder UMT and ILM Trust. He said that evolution, achievements and future course in the wider world of academia of UMT owe so much to the vision and exemplary leadership of Dr Hasan. No one can ever replace this irreversible loss of him. Today, we all pay tribute to the memory of this great legend who has left indelible marks on the academic leadership of Pakistan. UMT, the great institution of learning, will continue to grow under the shadow of Dr Hasan’s vision, genius and creative imagination, leadership, passion and extraordinary innovative impulse. He showed his sincere gratitude towards Dr Ahmad Omar Murad for taking the chair as Chairman of ILM Trust.

 

He also quoted that within 15 years of receiving the charter UMT has grown into a formidable force on the academic scene of Pakistan. It is a proud moment for UMT to be ranked among top 500 in QS Asia University Rankings 2019 and also top 250 in Academic and Employer Reputation; indeed this phenomenal progress has been made in a short span of time and the credit goes to the Late Dr Hasan. At the same time, it is the combined effort of our faculty and administrative staff who strived to excel in the respective domains. This should inspire us to move forward to higher rankings. If we can do this in just 15 years, just imagine what UMT can achieve in the next 15 years. We should aim to position ourselves to be number one in Pakistan and in all disciplines. In order to have that we must have the best faculty, administrative staff, reach output and learning experience. He added that as a Pakistani, we should be proud of our cultural heritage, Pakistan carries enormous potential in term of human and natural capital, we should promise ourselves to serve our beloved homeland with our best possible manners. Pakistan has given us freedom and identity, it’s high time to pay back this debt.

UMT aspires to be global university and aims to have 100+ nationalities as the part of our campus. We are emerging rapidly and soon sphere of influence will extended to the global scale. We recognized the prime importance of social relevance of knowledge and that is why we planned to extend the involvement of academia, industry and government to unprecedented height. We have futuristic agenda that offers insights, consulting and advisory services in policy formulation.

In the end, he advised graduates that have faith in themselves, in their country and in their institution, they will never fail if they will do that and UMT will always support them in this regard. He also said that their graduation is only the one phase of completion in their lives and there is so much for them to achieve. He concluded his speech by wishing graduates all the success and happiness in the coming future.
