Graduates were Awarded Degrees on the 18th Convocation of UMT

1942 graduates were awarded degrees on the 18th UMT Convocation held on January 2, 2020. His Excellency Abdul Rehman Matar, Secretary General of the International Islamic Relief Organization, Chaudhary Muhammad Sarwar, Honorable Governor of the Punjab and Muhammad Mian Soomro, Federal Minister for Privatization were the Chief Guests of the occasion, who graced the event with their esteemed presence.

 

Ibrahim Hasan Murad, President UMT and ILM Trust, Dr Ahmed Umar Murad, Chairman, ILM Trust, Abid H K Shirwani, Director General UMT, Dr Muhammad Aslam, Rector UMT, Saleem Ata, Registrar UMT, Honorable Members of the Board of Governors, Honorable Members of the Board of Trustees, Worthy Faculty Members, Eminent Guests, Graduating Students and their Respected Parents attended the proceedings of the convocation.

 

Dr Muhammad Aslam, Rector UMT delivered a thoughtful speech where he congratulated the entire body of UMT including the graduates for all their hard work in attaining such a huge milestone. The rector was of the view that the students were now ready to embark on the next journey of life. The rector had a staunch belief that the graduates would make UMT proud in all walks of life.

Ibrahim Murad, President UMT/ILM Fund had some perceptive words to say to the graduates today. He told that the basis of UMT was laid by Khuram Murad and his son Dr Hasan Sohaib Murad and how they played a major role in the establishment of UMT. He advised the students to look after each other, love each other, protect each other and help each other. He extended his best wishes to the graduates.

Chaudhary Muhammad Sarwar, Governor Punjab and Patron UMT had words of wisdom as well to add to what the other chief guests said. The governor paid tribute to the late Dr Hasan Sohaib Murad and commended his efforts in imparting quality education to the masses. He felt immense pleasure in being a part of the 18th UMT Convocation and congratulated the students, parents, faculty and staff of UMT for their efforts.

His Excellency Abdul Rehman Matar stated that by giving the honorary PhD degree to His Excellency Dr Mohammad bin Abdul Karim Al-Issa, Secretary General of the Muslim World League progress towards international peace, and harmony is made, and a step towards strengthening ties between the two countries is taken. He thanked UMT for providing him with a platform to show his gratitude and share the grateful emotion of Secretary General of Muslim League World. He appreciated and praised the efforts of the Rector, Faculty and Staff members of UMT on playing an imperative role in the accomplishment and success of the graduates.

Dr Ahmad Murad, Chairman ILM Trust humbly welcomed the chief guests, graduates and their parents. He talked about the advancement of time and what their generation believed to be impossible was possible today. He told the graduates that as they begin a new journey, it was their burden and the consequences whether good or bad would be theirs too. They owned the future that they would face. These words were to boost their morale and motivate them to be able to cope with the world outside the academic institute.

A total of 18 Patron’s Medals, 23 Rector’s Medals, 7 Rector’s Academic Excellence Awards, 6 Certificates of Excellence and 10 OPA’s Gold Medal were awarded to students of UMT, Lahore Campus. It was a proud moment for the UMT Family to witness such a Convocation.
