Graduates of 11 Schools Awarded Degrees on the 2nd Day of the 21st Convocation

On the second day of the 21st convocation of UMT i.e. February 19, 2022, participants of Institute of Liberal Arts (ILA), School of Professional Psychology (SPP), School of Social Sciences and Humanities (SSSH), School of Governance and Society (SGS), School of Law and Policy (SLP), School of Media and Communication Studies (SMCS), School of Architecture and Planning (SAP), School of Food and Agricultural Sciences (SFAS), School of Health Sciences (SHS), School of Design and Textiles (SDT), and School of Engineering (SEN) were awarded degrees.

The hosts said that today is a memorable day for all of the graduating students and their parents and thanked the Ushers and Marshals for their hard work as a solid team to make the event a success. They advised the graduates to be thankful to their parents and the faculty for their achievement and told them to never stop dreaming.

In the first session of the day, Dean of School of Social Sciences and Humanities (SSSH) Dr Mumtaz Akhter welcomed the chief guest Mr Shahid Siddique, Dean Lahore School of Economics. In her welcome note she said that this convocation is another milestone in the history of UMT. She told that our faculty and staff have dedicated themselves wholeheartedly to make UMT an innovation hub and expressed her greatest gratitude to the founder Dr Hasan Sohaib Murad (Shaheed).

The Chief Guest Mr Shahid Siddique advised the students that if you want to be successful in life do everything creatively and distinguish yourself from others. He also highlighted the importance of dreaming big and advised the graduates to be honest with their profession.

In the convocation address, Deans of multiple schools felicitated the graduating students upon successful completion of their degrees, which they labelled as a token of their solid commitment to the pursuit of excellence. They praised the parents of the graduates without whose support, sacrifices, and prayers, the students would not have achieved this milestone. The Deans of schools’ expressed that the greatest strength of UMT is its exceptional faculty and their sense of commitment towards educating the youth. The one and only path to success is endless learning, humbleness, and honesty with no short cuts, they said.

In the last program, there were two chief guests i.e. Dr Shahzad Khan, CEO CCL Pharmaceuticals and Amin Tariq, CEO Amin Tariq Associates. Dr Shahzad Khan shared stories of his life with the graduates so they could understand the pathway of life. He was honored to say that he has been an alumnus of ILM College in 1996. He told that his company got the title of the fastest growing company in very short time span and proudly said that CCL is the 2nd largest exporter. He said that he feels content by giving back to the society. Mr Amin Tariq addressed the students and said that his is just the beginning of your career and you are going to have much more learning the future. He advised them to do what they love and never stop learning.

At the end of the ceremony, Registrar UMT Saleem Atta presented souvenirs to the chief guests of the event.
