German Ambassador to Pakistan visits UMT

Bernhard Schlagheck, German Ambassador to Pakistan and Christian Boettcher, Special Representative German Embassy paid a visit to the University of Management and Technology (UMT) on January 22, 2021. The purpose of the visit was to strengthen ties between UMT and the German institutes in order to provide the students and faculty of UMT the opportunity to explore and broaden their horizon. The university warmly welcomed the German delegate in a poised manner by playing the national anthems of both the countries.


His Excellency (H.E) held an official meeting with Ibrahim Hasan Murad, President UMT, Dr. Muhammad Aslam, Rector UMT, Abid H.K. Shirwani, Director General UMT and the senior faculty members of School of Engineering (SEN), School of Textile and Design (STD) and School of Systems and Technology (SST). H.E Bernhard commended the tremendous efforts made by the UMT family in shaping the futures of students and playing a pivotal role in inculcating their core values into their students. His Excellency (H.E) extended his support to the university regarding the development of educational liaison with German organizations. He was also overwhelmed by the support UMT extended in the promotion of German language by establishing a German Language Center and initiating joint degree programs in collaboration with different German universities.
He was honored to visit UMT and wished to highlight the university on prominent international forums due to its exceptional management and staff along with the quality education it offers. Abid H.K. Shirwani, Director General briefed the ambassador about the joint ventures with Germany while Ibrahim Hasan Murad, President talked about UMT collaborating with TEVTA in order to launch a vocational training program under the mentorship of German professionals from the German Chamber of Crafts and Industries.
The university will offer short courses, certifications and diploma programs in multi-industrial disciplines which will be recognized globally. This will indeed lead students and industrial professionals towards a brighter and a promising future. He also presented a souvenir to H.E and thanked him for his visit.
