UMT Researcher Dr Sammia Shahid Presents Research Paper at University of Oxford, UK

Tuesday, July 30 2019

Dr Sammia Shahid, Dean Research and Associate Professor, Department of Chemistry, SSC, was honored to present a research paper in the 3rd International Conference on Materials Sciences and Nanomaterials, ICMSN 2019, held on  July 22-24, 2019 at University of Oxford, UK. She brings pride for UMT by presenting a research paper at University of Oxford, which is fourth by QS World Ranking. The conference covered areas within material science and focused on synthesis and characterization of nanomaterials, futuristic applications of nanotechnology, manufacturing, processing of Materials and related nanomaterial topics.

The title of Dr Sammia’s paper was, ‘Enhancement of Antimicrobial Activities and Dissolution Rate of Clarithromycin Nanoparticles.’ It was co-authored by Muhammad Ashfaq. This paper explained preparation of Clarithromycin drug nanoparticles by economical, echo friendly method. Major concern for macrolides antibiotics, especially for Clarithromycin is low solubility and bioavailability. The paper explained  that solubility and dissolution rate could be enhanced by preparing nano drugs as their surface area increases at nano scale.
