UMT Alumnus Dr Aamir Jamal Returns to his Alma Mater

Dr Aamir Jamal, who received his MBA (1996) from the Dr Hasan Murad School of Management at UMT), Lahore, has been invited to teach one semester at UMT. It is an honor for HSM-UMT to have acquired his valuable services. Dr Amir Jamal has done his PhD in International Development from University of Calgary, Alberta.  He started his teaching career back in 1995 from UMT. He has taught at University of Calgary, Alberta, Faculty of Social Work as Seasonal Instructor, Mount Royal University, Calgary, Alberta, Bissett School of Business as Assistant Professor of Management Studies, and University of New Brunswick, Faculty of Business Administration as Part-Time Instructor. Currently, he is working as Associate Professor of International Development in St. Thomas University, Fredericton, New Brunswick, School of Social Work. 

While he is delivering a series of lectures on qualitative research to MPhil and PhD students and addressing seminars on the theme of engaging men and gender justice, Muslim youth and identity crisis at his alma mater, Dr Jamal feels proud of being associated with UMT. “I’m proud of being UMT graduate. This is one of the best institutions of quality education serving at national level,” he says. He says that he wishes to assist, mentor and advise PhD candidates as to how they may conduct result-oriented research, produce high-quality research articles and complete their dissertations timely. “I can play my role in enhancing academic quality and rigor in the work of faculties”, he says.  

Dr Amir Jamal is immensely devoted towards research which can be traced down through his number of refereed and non-refereed publications along with more than 30 conference presentations. His interest areas for research includes Men and Gender Justice, Muslim Youth and Identity Crisis, Girls’ Education, International Social Development, Nongovernmental Organizations (NGOs), Human Rights, Social Policy, and Global Studies. He has also served Mount Royal University, Calgary, Alberta as a member of research integrity committee. Dr  Amir Jamal is also professionally affiliated with Canadian Association of Social Work Education (since 2010), The Canadian Association for the Study of International Development (since 2010), and  International Federation of Social Workers (since 2011).
