Dr Muhammad Aslam Advises Graduates to Earn Respect on the Basis of Professional Knowledge

Addressing the 17th UMT Convocation, Dr Muhammad Aslam, Rector UMT, said that it is indeed a pleasure and a matter of pride to welcome all those present today. This is a memorable day for the graduates, their teachers and parents. Today marks the successful completion of an era of the lives of the graduates. He wished a successful professional life and bright future to all those who are graduating today.

Dr Aslam added that UMT has a full time highly qualified faculty. The University offers wide variety of degree programs which are accredited by relevant accrediting bodies. Elaborating the progress made by the University over the past year, Dr Aslam said during 2018-19, UMT organized several international conferences. The University became a hub of national and international speakers including those from USA, UK, Germany, Australia, Turkey, China, South Korea, Malaysia, Sri Lanka and several other countries. UMT places special importance on research by its faculty members and students. At present, 16 journals are being published by UMT and the number is expected to rise. In the past year alone, 300+ research papers were published by UMT researchers and 200 of these were in reputed impact factor journals. 

Rector UMT stated with pride that UMT has been ranked among the elite class of top 500 universities in regional QS Asia University Rankings for 2019.  Already more than 125 graduate and postgraduate programs are being offered here. The total number of graduates in BS, MS, MPhil and Postgraduate programs during the Fall Semester 2018 was about 750. Nearly 450 graduates completed their undergraduate degrees while 350 of them completed their postgraduate studies.

According to Dr Muhammad Aslam, special focus has also been paid to the grooming and character building of students as there are more than 60 clubs and societies functioning to facilitate overall development of students. The Rector concluded by advising the graduates to earn respect on the basis of their sound professional knowledge, excellent skills and outstanding performance. They must work with commitment, dedication and hard work and exhibit high degree of tolerance in life.
