19th UMT Convocation

“Graduation is not the end but the beginning…”

The 19th convocation of UMT took place on Thursday, October 22, 2020 at UMT Greens. Graduates walked down the paths of the university one more time with their heads held high to receive their degrees and have all their hard work paid off. Strict SOPs for COVID-19 were followed by the UMT family in order to stay safe and keep everyone safe.

The convocation commenced with the recitation of the Holy Quran followed by the National anthem. Sarwar Hussain Naqshbandi, a PhD Scholar of UMT and a student of Dr Hasan Sohaib Murad (Shaheed) shared a heart wrenching piece of poetry he wrote in the memory of his mentor which moved the audience to tears.

Dr Muhammad Aslam, Rector UMT gave a welcome note where he extended his gratitude to the students, faculty, and the guests of honor for gracing the event. He talked about the different milestones UMT has achieved from the time of its inception. The Rector commended the graduates and urged them to put their learning to productive use and be model professionals and exemplary human beings. He expressed his trust in the new graduates that with their hard work, dedication and excellent performance, they would be a source of pride for UMT.

Ibrahim Hasan Murad, President ILM Trust/UMT shared his thoughts about the evolving times and how UMT has coped and will continue to do so in the future for its students. He exclaimed that the graduating class is imbued with the lasting spirit of constant inquiry and service to the community. They carry with them the essence of ethical and moral behavior fit for responsible citizens of this country. He called the youth the architects for the future and believed that they would build a progressive and prosperous Pakistan.

The honorable guest, Chaudhary Mohammad Sarwar, Governor of the Punjab gave an insightful speech for the young graduates to congratulate them for their success. In his address, he paid a glowing tribute to Dr Hasan Sohaib Murad (Shaheed) for being the epitome of empathy. He commended Dr Hasan and his team for their countless contributions, hard work and dedication in leading UMT to the pinnacles of success. He asked the students to revel in joy and celebrate their achievements. He congratulated the graduates for achieving a milestone in their academic careers and making their parents and teachers proud.
