Times Higher Education organized a Virtual World Academic Summit on 1-2 September, 2020. The online event was joined by more than 900 leaders from across the global higher education ecosystem to unite in this period of profound global disruption. Mr. Asif Saeed Haider, Director AAQIC participated in the event to interpret the true scale of disruption to the education sector and to explore the strategic agenda for the next decade. The programme was split across four stages- world stage, alliance stage, collaboration stage, and festival of data stage. The stages provided delegates with the opportunity to build their programme to their specific interests or organization’s challenges. The world stage included discussions with university leaders as THE set the global shared agenda for the next 10 years. At the alliance stage, THE held a meet and greet session with international associations and organizations that define higher education. The collaboration stage incorporated information on how industry investors and partners are approaching the challenges of a post-pandemic higher education. The festival of the data stage investigated the latest trends in data with practical master classes led by the THE Data Team. Director AAQIC found the session was relevant and useful to address how the higher education sector has been transformed by this period of pandemic crisis.
