2nd Nobel Laureate Talk for UMT with Professor Takaaki Kajita

In the 2nd Nobel Laureate Talk, Accreditations and Academic Quality Improvement Cell (AAQIC) in collaboration with School of Science (SSC) invited Professor Takaaki Kajita, Nobel Prize Winner, 2015 in Physics, for an exclusive talk regarding his contributions and research accomplishments. Takaaki Kajita, Japanese physicist was awarded the 2015 Nobel Prize in Physics for discovering the oscillations of neutrinos from one flavor to another, which proved that those subatomic particles have mass. The webinar was commenced by a welcome note by Dr Muhammad Aslam (S.I), Rector UMT, and Dr Fazal Ahmad Khalid, Chairman Punjab Higher Education Commission (PHEC). Prof. Kajita discussed in detail his Neutrino research, motivation for conducting Kamioka Nucleon Decay Experiment (Kamiokande), location of the Kamiokande experiment, discovery of neutrino oscillations, Super-kamiokande experiment, and importance of neutrinos. He further addressed the questions put forward by the audience. The webinar was very insightful and attracted a large audience including students, faculty and staff members. Prof. Dr Muhammad Azhar Iqbal, Dean School of Science, thanked Prof. Kajita for his enlightening presentation and excellent contributions in the field of Physics.
