UMT Student Housing (USH)

Rules & Policies

All residents of UMT Student Housing (USH) are required to comply with the following rules and applicable University policies:

1. Eligibility & Admission

  • USH accommodation is available to bona fide UMT students residing in cities other than Lahore, subject to availability and applicable admission procedures.
  • Students seeking accommodation must apply on the prescribed form with the required documents and two passport-size photographs.
  • The University is not obliged to provide accommodation to every student and USH management reserves the right to approve or decline accommodation.
  • Day scholars are not required to apply for accommodation except under special circumstances.

2. Fees & Clearance

  • Residents must pay all USH dues in advance, before joining the semester. Residents with outstanding dues may become ineligible to continue their stay and their allotment may be cancelled.
  • All residents must obtain the prescribed clearance certificate from the Warden USH/Head OCMS when leaving the hostel.

3. Entry, Exit & Timings

  • Residents must be in their rooms by the set timings (10:00 p.m. for girls, 11:00 p.m. for boys) and cannot leave the hostel afterward without prior written approval; girls are strictly not allowed to leave after 8:00 p.m. in summers and 6:00 p.m. in winters, with violations resulting in a Rs. 3,000 fine per occurrence.
  • All students are required to record their entry and exit in the designated register at the hostel entry point. This requirement is mandatory for all residents without exception.
  • In case of an emergency requiring late departure or return, the resident must inform the Hostel In-charge.

4. Visitors & Guests

  • Visitors are permitted in accordance with the prevailing USH visitor policy.
  • Visitors are required to complete the prescribed identification and entry procedure at the USH gate, including presentation of their original CNIC, where applicable.
  • Overnight guests are permitted only in accordance with the prevailing USH rules. Parents, guardians and eligible blood relatives may stay for up to two nights, subject to prior approval and applicable charges.
  • The applicable guest charge is PKR 1,000 per night per person, in accordance with the prevailing USH rules.
  • Residents are responsible for ensuring that their guests comply with applicable hostel rules and procedures.

5. Transport

Only USH hostel residents holding a valid registration are permitted to use USH transport

6. Room Allotment & Use

  • Residents must personally occupy their allotted rooms and may not allow unauthorized or unlawful occupants to stay in them.
  • Misuse of an allotted room, including keeping unauthorized or unlawful occupants, may result in cancellation of the allotment and referral to the Disciplinary Committee.

7. Air Conditioners & Air Coolers

  • During summer, use of an air conditioner or air cooler is subject to prior approval of the Hostel In-charge and registration in the prescribed record book.

8. Conduct & Prohibited Activities

  • Smoking is strictly prohibited throughout USH premises, including rooms and outdoor areas owned by the University. This includes cigarettes, cigars, pipes, hookahs, smokeless tobacco, clove cigarettes, vapes, electronic cigarettes and other smoking devices.
  • Any political organization, federation, Jamaat or similar organization, and activities associated with such organizations, are not permitted on USH premises.
  • Residents must comply with all applicable University disciplinary and residential policies.

9. Leaving USH

  • Students who leave USH before completion of their degree will not be permitted to enter USH again, including as guests, subject to applicable University policy.
  • Residents must complete the prescribed clearance procedure before leaving USH.

10. Violations & Disciplinary Action

  • Boarders are expected to live responsibly and respectfully in the hostel community, avoiding any behavior that causes disturbance; silence hours must be observed from 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.
  • Any breach of USH rules may be referred to the hostel management for appropriate action.
  • The hostel management is authorized, in accordance with applicable University policy, to impose fines and/or recommend or take action, including cancellation of accommodation or expulsion from USH, against violators.

Note: These rules should be read together with the latest approved USH Rules, Standard Operating Procedures and applicable University policies. In case of any conflict, the latest approved policy/SOP shall prevail.
