Prof. Dr. Tashfeen Mahmood Azhar holds a Ph.D. from the University of South Florida, where his research focused on Production Planning and Control, Fuzzy Mathematical Modeling, Computer Simulation, Supply Chain Management, and Expert Systems. He also holds an MS in Metallurgical Engineering and Material Sciences from the University of Pittsburgh, and a B.Sc. (Engineering) in Metallurgical and Material Sciences from the University of the Punjab.
Dr. Azhar has over two decades of academic experience at UMT, where he has served in several senior roles including Dean, Associate Dean, Director of Ph.D. Programs, and Chairman of the Department of Operations & Supply Chain. Currently he is working in the capacity of Provost of the university. He teaches at the MBA, MS, and Ph.D. levels, with a focus on Supply Chain Management, Production Planning and Inventory Control, Operations Management, and Data Modeling and Decisions.
Beyond the classroom, Dr. Azhar has supervised four Ph.D. dissertations and has an active research portfolio with publications in reputable national and international journals including the International Journal of Operations & Production Management, Supply Chain Management: An International Journal, Management Research Review, and International Journal of Production Economics, among others.
Dr. Azhar brings substantial industrial experience to his academic work, having served as General Manager Operations at Rex Baren Batteries Ltd. and Radieux (Pvt.) Ltd., where he led production, quality control, R&D, and strategic planning functions.
He is also a senior member of the National Business Education Accreditation Council (NBEAC), where he serves on the Accreditation Inspection Committee and has mentored several business schools through the accreditation process. He has additionally contributed to curriculum development for the University of Gujrat and led consultancy work in waste management for the Sindh Higher Education Commission.
