Quality Enhancement Cell



This is first time Quality Enhancement Cell launched Learning Teaching Assessment through online student feedback system in which  Separate questionnaires have been designed for 100 to 200, 300 to 400, 500 to 600 and 700 plus level courses. students feedback is a regular and semester wise activity at UMT, It aims at enhancing the quality of education at UMT in the light of voice of students. Learning Teaching effectiveness was measured in 13th week of Spring 2018 to gauge the level of satisfaction of students.

The Voice of Students is measured, studied and analyzed for the identification of quality improvement areas for faculty, for the programs and for teaching methodologies.

Key points during Spring 2018 students’ feedback have been highlighted. The University, School /Institute, department and program comparisons have been discussed in the report. Qualitative recommendations given by students have also been included in the report

Doctoral Assessment Survey 

This study with regards to Doctoral program Assessment was conducted against a directive from Honorable Rector, Dr. Muhammad Aslam. Rector UMT accompanied by Prof. Dr. A. R. Kausar, Registrar, Principal Secretary and Director QEC had an exclusive meeting with all PhD scholars currently enrolled in Spring-2018 semester on Feb.21, 2018. Students viewpoints were captured by having Qualitative feedback during the interactive sessions with them and also a structured Instrument (Annexure – I) was developed on the basis of which overall performance of Ph.D programs was calculated. This report also depicts the picture of the following categories in each school / institute:


Graduating Survey

Graduating Survey is an important survey to evaluate graduating student input on the quality of education they received during the course of their program. The purpose of this survey is to assess the quality of the academic programs after taking feedback from Graduating students of Undergraduate as well as Graduate Programs. The data collected from this surveys are used to improve processes and identify opportunities for growth and improvement. The process included obtaining feedback from Graduating students of Fall 2017, Spring. Fall 2018 Convocations on the prescribed feedback form. The School, program, comparison has also been discussed in the report.


Assessment of English Courses

The purpose behind the task was to assess the quality of English courses resourced to undergraduate level students. A specific Questionnaire was designed to capture the student’s voice against the reading, written, listening, speaking and presentation and communication skills which they have acquired by studying English I, English II, English III and English IV level courses.The data was taken from the students who have completed all the four courses of English and it includes the students of all the Undergraduate level programs being offered at UMT. 


Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC) of UMT achieves 91.0 percent (W Category) by HEC Quality Assurance Agency (QAA)

Quality Enhancement Cell of UMT has achieved 91.0 percent for the period ending June 30, 2015 which leads the respective department again in "W category ". The quantitative assessment is being conducted by the Quality Assurance Agency of HEC, Pakistan on yearly basis. For the last four assessments, UMT QEC has been maintaining its ranking in W category (85 - 100%).

This achievement has been made possible through the visionary leadership of Dr Hasan Sohaib Murad, Rector UMT, and Dr A R Kausar, Head QEC. The whole QEC department including Muhammad Yousaf Jamil, Director QEC, UMT and other members Qamer AhmadNauman ShahidAbdul Qayyum and Abdul Khaliq deserve commendation for their dedicated and committed team efforts due to which for the fourth time, we not only maintained our ranking but also enhanced it.

» Director QEC, UMT attended the 5th Quarterly meeting of W Category Universities

 MeetingDirector QEC, UMT, Mr. Muhammad Yousaf Jamil attended the fifth (5th) meeting of the Quality Enhancement Cells of W Category private Sector Universities which was held on June 25-26, 2012 at Institute of Business Management (IoBM), Karachi. The meeting will be followed by a workshop on "Role of Assessment Team in Self-Assessment Process". Mr. Jamil briefed the partcipants and Managing Director, QAA of HEC about the performance of Quality Enhancement Cell at University of management and Technology, Lahore. He also added that QEC at UMT has also achieved the target of Establishment and submission of Self Assessment Reports (SARs) of 8 various programs later by June 30, 2012. The presentation by UMT was very well appreciated by the HEC team and other Directors QECs of W Category Universities.
