Job Title: Manager Accounts

Key Job Responsibilities: 

  • Assist Treasurer to perform following tasks:-
  • Process payments for goods purchased and services rendered
  • Payment of utilities and telephone bills.
  • Process payment of salaries.
  • Control capital expenditure.
  • Financial assistance to students.
  • Maintain General ledger accounts.
  • Control of assets.
  • Prepare financial statements.
  • Submit periodic management reports.
  • Supervise Bank reconciliation.
  • Perform post audit procedures
  • Approve purchase requisitions and estimates of repairs and maintenance, construction works and certify availability of appropriate funds.
  • Supervise cash imprested of various officers / offices of the UMT.
  • Control capital expenditure.
  • Such duties as may be assigned from time to time by Treasurer as may be necessary for smooth functioning of the departments.
  • Supervise and assist the Senior Accounts officers and Accounts officers in performing their duties  
  • Preparing monthly and annual accounts closing reports   
  • Recommend and maintain a system of policies and procedures that impose an adequate level of control over departmental activities   
  • Creating solutions to new financial challenges by applying financial/treasury knowledge;   
  • Directs budget and cost controls.   
  • Recommend benchmarks for measuring the financial and operating performance of divisions and departments    
  • Ensure compliance corporate and tax reporting requirements.   
  • Work with department managers to develop short and long term financial plans.   
  • Facilitate in financial audits and provide recommendations for procedural improvements.   
  • Establish and implement short and long term departmental goals, policies, and operating procedures.

Job Specification:

  • Knowledge of corporate liquidity, investments, and risk management related to the organizational financial activities.
  • Forecast cash flow positions, related borrowing needs, and available funds for investment
  • Ensure that sufficient funds are available to meet ongoing operational and capital investment requirements
  • Maintain credit and debit rating agencies/banks relationships
  • To provide timely internal and external customer service


  • CA Inter/ACCA/ ACMA or Master’s Degree in Accounts, Finance or equivalent.


  • Minimum 8 Years of experience in accounts
