UMT Wins at Pakistan International Auto Show 2020

UMT took part in the Pakistan International Auto Show 2020 which was organized by PAAPAM (Pakistan Association of Automotive Parts and Accessories Manufacturers). The show eventuated at Expo Centre on 21-23 February, 2020. The main focus of the event was to showcase automotive and automotive parts’ manufacturers by national and international exhibitors. In addition to the exhibition, competitions for the students were also organized under different categories.

Various competent universities participated in the event, including University of Management and Technology, University of Engineering and Technology (Lahore and Taxila), University of the Punjab, University of Lahore, Bahria University, COMSATS, NUST, GIKI, NCA, STEPS etc.

UMT displayed 8 projects from the School of Engineering, 4 sculpture projects and, 5 live drawing contestants participated from School of Textile and Design. Habeeb Ul Hassan and Osama Bin Shafqat won 3rd position under the category of Engineering Innovation Award, along with PKR 50,000/- cash prize.

Rabia Idrees secured 1st position in the Live Drawing Award, with a cash prize of PKR 30,000/- Malaika Abid and Maliha Butt won 1st and 2nd position, with a cash prize of PKR 50,000/- and PKR 40,000/- respectively, in the Metal Sculpture Award.

All in all, it was a prodigious experience for the students and a moment of pride for the University. PAAPAM was grateful to Prof Dr Ijaz Ahmad Chaudhary, Dean, School of Engineering and Sehrish Rafique, Lecturer, School of Textile and Design, UMT, for being judges for the Engineering Innovation Awards, and Live Drawing and Sculpture Awards respectively. Their extensive support, guidance, and motivation for the students was laudable. We extend our heartiest congratulations and best wishes to the students.
