UMT-ICP Holds International Conference on Preventive Strategies in Clinical Psychology

UMT-ICP is holding a two-day International Conference titled, ‘Preventative Strategies in Clinical Psychology: Preemption and Proaction,’ at the University Campus on March 13-14, 2019. The aim of the 2nd International Conference is to highlight those preventative measures which can be opt for reducing the psychological problems and sufferings from the society.
Prominent experts and professionals from various institutions and organizations are participating in the conference. Dr Muhammad Aslam, Rector UMT, welcomed the distinguished guests, faculty and participants and emphasized the importance of Clinical Psychology in curbing the evils of society. He encouraged the academia and professionals to work in collaboration of knowledge, techniques and strategies that have been shown to be successful in the prevention of psychological disorders.
Prof Dr Zahid Mehmood, Director ICP, gave stated that traditional Clinical Psychology has been more preoccupied with the remedial approaches to help psychological problems than preventing them in the first place. Now, we have sufficient knowledge and understanding of the processes underlying the onset and maintenance of psychological disorders.
A number of experts discussed their views on spreading preventative clinical approaches to help the individual as well as communities at large.
