Dr Sammia Shahid Arranges Industrial Visit to Wilshire Labs (Pvt.) Ltd.

Dr Sammia Shahid, Dean Research, along with Department of Chemistry faculty and students arranged an industrial tour of Wilshire Labs (Pvt.) Ltd., Lahore on December 21, 2018. All team members from Wilshire Labs (Pvt.) Ltd. gave special attention to UMT students and faculty who explained industrial processes in detail. Students expressed their gratitude to the management of Wilshire Labs (Pvt.) Ltd. for providing the opportunity to have closer look at industrial working and for their hospitality.
The gap between industry and academia is increasing day by day, which is a great hindrance in the development of new technologies in our country. Graduates from the universities have the experimental knowledge at lab scale only. Industrial tours help to give them broader aspects on Pilot plant scale and large scale working and synthesizing of chemicals. Also for many industry related problems we have to seek the assistance of foreign experts for their solutions. The need of the hour is to train our own graduates for the development of new technologies.
