Rector meets Office of Facilities Management (OFM)

Introductory meeting with OFM was arranged on Wednesday, July 26, 2017 at 10 o’clock in RS Executive boardroom presided by Rector, Dr Aslam.

Major (Rtd) Ibrar Hussain, Head office of facilities management (OFM) briefly introduced himself and his team with the Rector and continued with detailed formal presentation on core functions. During the presentation Head OFM laid emphasis on imperative concerns and challenges of the department.

Head OFM shared that the main role of office is to ensure administration of university which include Security and Safety, CCTV Control Room, Events Management and Protocol, Housekeeping and Janitorial Services, Offices Management, Horticulture, Electric & amp, Power Management, Classroom Management, Assets and Management, Supply Management, Food and Catering, Transport, Repair and Maintenance, Boarding and Lodging, Guest House and Hostel Management, Legal Affairs, Tel. Exchange and Mail.

Head OFM also highlighted that cross functional committees are formed that keep regular check and balance in the university. Moreover, Policies and procedures are updated time to time as prescribed by government bodies. He also put forth few concerns for consideration of higher authorities regarding capacity of powerhouse, sewerage system, establishment of QRF security, facility of auditorium, Storage for furniture etc., need of additional security guards, proper approachable university entrance for students and separate hostels for Boys & girls. He added that these concerns require foremost attention.

Worthy Rector highly appreciated proficient work of OFM team and stated that we intend to promote conducive and collaborative environment in the university as activities of all the departments are interdependent. He also directed head OFM to improve the approach and entrance to UMT main gate for general public and students and place boards indicating entry for students and visitors.

He further ordered Mr Ibrar to build shades and strategically plant trees for easy mobility of students from one building to another.
