UMT and CAA to Establish Walton Aviation Training School

It is a moment of great pride for UMT community that the Rector UMT Dr Hasan Sohaib Murad has signed for the land acquired from Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), Government of Pakistan, to establish aviation training center titled ‘Walton Aviation Training School’ at Walton Aerodrome, Lahore on the August 10, 2016. The event ceremony was held in the office of Airport Manager, Walton Aerodrome.

The aviation training center would be run under the Institute of Aviation Studies, UMT. The objective of establishing this training school is to give a new dimension of knowledge to the students of Aviation Management and Aircraft Maintenance Engineers Technology (AMET) programs.The training school will have an approved and logable hours’ flight simulator (Redbird MCX) for the pilots. ELPT and Ground Training for PPL/CPL pilots will also be carried out under the certifications issued by Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority in which UMT is declared as an Approved Training Organization (ATO).

The event was attended by Abid H K Shirwani, DG, UMT, Major (R) Ibrar Hussain, Head OFM, Kalim-ur-Rahman, Faculty Member, IAS, Mian Mohammed Omer Mazhar, Manager Operations and Training, Usman Malik, GM, USFC, Walton and senior officers of CAA. After the ceremony, the team of UMT officials visited Walton Aerodrome and took a round of land acquired by UMT.
